Livable Trafalgar
A community designed around green spaces
About
New homes are important, and so
is everything around those homes.
A proposed new, mixed-use community at the southeast corner of Trafalgar and Burnhamthorpe East in North Oakville will prioritize all the things that make a neighbourhood livable: different types and sizes of homes, green spaces, public gathering places, commercial and retail spaces, connections to future schools, and new roads and access to transit. It’s smart growth, not sprawl.
Our approach to landscape design will respect the area’s history and its gradual evolution as a space for nature, agriculture, art, and recreation. Designing the community around green and open spaces ensures future residents will maintain connections to nature. This is the vision for Livable Trafalgar.

The Proposal
Our vision supports Oakville’s long-term growth strategy with a community designed around green and open spaces. It will include a mix of towers, mid-rise buildings and integrated townhomes in a range of unit tenure and sizes. A network of parks and trails, courtyards, and a central public square will ensure we maintain a strong quality of life and sense of belonging. New public streets will connect to the existing streets and will be designed with ample sidewalk, street trees and bike lanes, connecting to the wider network.
Team
A team of leading Canadian designers, planners and other experts will work alongside Town staff and the public to explore the future vision for the Livable Trafalgar site.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Livable Trafalgar?
Livable Trafalgar is a proposal for a vibrant community at Trafalgar Road and Burnhamthorpe East designed around a central public square, and a connected network of parks, plazas, courtyards, landscaped green corridors and streets. We’re respecting and prioritizing landscape, with a made-in-Canada approach to developing complete communities.
Why propose a mixed-use development in this area?
Oakville’s population is expected to double by 2050, but many people are struggling to find suitable homes. People need real choice so they can live close to family and the neighbourhoods they grew up in, and newcomers can make a home. Our vision is to build a complete community that seamlessly connects to new surrounding communities with supporting community infrastructure.
What type of housing will be included in the proposal and what is the unit mix?
The proposal includes a flexible mix of homes to accommodate evolving needs and population growth, from low-, mid- and high-rise. The unit mix will include one- to- three-bedroom homes, as well as integrated townhomes.
What is the construction timeline?
We have yet to submit a formal development application to the Town of Oakville outlining our proposal, which will be informed by consultations with Town staff and the wider public. As the Town has not yet approved the application, we do not have a confirmed timeline for the start of construction. In general, we expect the community will develop gradually in phases over several decades.
